lip

enhancement

Lips are an important part of facial beauty. Fuller and more sensuous lips are in high demand. Reduced lip volume dry skin and pucker lines around the lips can age the face considerably,

Lip enhancement will aim to both prevent and improve the signs of ageing so that you’ll be able to enjoy younger, plumper lips for longer.

To enhance lips naturally a specific dermal filler is used that contains products that are natural found in the body. The procedure is a safe and simple treatment that will add volume and definition which can enhance aging, small or thin lips. The procedure can also balance out asymmetric lips or reduce the appearance of those fine, vertical lines above the lip line often referred to as ‘smokers lines’.

Magazines often publicise the dreaded ‘trout pout’ look. This is due to poor practice and poor techniques. Beautoxology’s Advanced Nurse Practitioners have a wealth of practical and theoretical experience in Lip volumisation and we pride ourselves on maintaining a natural look to enhance each individual’s features and introduce volume to the lip area.

HOW IS LIP ENHANCEMENT USED IN COSMETIC MEDICINE?

Lip Enhancement is a popular non-surgical treatment to enhance the shape, volume, definition and hydration of lips. Dermal Fillers can provide an effective volume enhancing solution that keeps them feeling soft and natural.

Lip enhancement can be performed at many different areas of the lips :

  • Vermilion border or lip outline - for creating definition, width and improve lipstick bleeding lines

  • Lip augmentation targeting the fleshy part of the upper and lower lip – for volume, pout and fullness

  • Cupids bow definition – adds definition and contouring

  • Oral commissures or lines going down from the sides of the mouth – for a younger and happy look

  • Marionette lines (sad lines from corner of lips downward) – also known as puppet lines

  • Philtrum ridges that go from the upper lip towards the nose can be made more defined.

  • Perioral lines or fine vertical lines often due to smoking on the upper lip can be reduced

RESULTS

After the injection, the lips often become swollen. This is due to the lips being a very sensitive area. The amount of swelling may vary from each individual. This means that the result immediately after the treatment may not be the final result. The swelling typically resolves spontaneously within a couple of days to 1-2 weeks. If the lips are swollen it is important to be patient as they will settle down. Ice packs may help to reduce the swelling.

To achieve the result you want, a touch-up treatment 2 to 4 weeks after the initial session may be required. This will also add to the duration of the treatment effect

The result generally last between 6 to 12 months. The longevity of these products is variable and each individual may obtain a different result. A plan for regular follow-up treatments to maintain the initial result can be created for you. Our treatment provides a long-lasting but not permanent result leaving you the option of refining your treatment in tune with changing taste and fashion

FAQs

What does the procedure involve?

A full facial assessment will be carries out to identify what areas of the lips are most appropriate to treat. For an effective treatment plan, it’s very important for us to understand your perception, motivation and expected results. In some cases its the corners of the lips that are treated, sometimes we need to increase projection of the upper lip to line up with the bottom lip. Your treatment plan will be explained in depth at consultation and we will only proceed once we are confident we can meet or exceed expectation.

A topical anaesthetic will be applied for 15-30 minutes prior the treatment to numb the area. Dermal filler is injected at precise locations into and around the lip area. The product will then be massaged into the lips. During the procedure, you are fully awake. You will be given a mirror to hold to enable you to see the results when the treatment is completed.
